About Pastor Randy Foos

Church AltarPastor Randall Foos is the Mission Developer of Spirit of the Desert congregation. He was called to develop a plan for a new mission by a former Lutheran congregation, Calvary Lutheran Church, which was closed in 2009.

Little did he know the challenges that would lie ahead! With faith in God and a will to move forward, Pastor Randy continues to lead Spirit of the Desert as it seeks to develop a new facility and new opportunities to minister IN and TO the community.

Following His Path

Pastor Randy grew up in a small town in Kansas, graduating from Bazine Rural High School. He graduated from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas, in 1971 with a B.A degree. Following college, he attended Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa, graduating with a Master of Divinity degree in 1975.

Before coming to Spirit of the Desert, Pastor Randy has served congregations in California, Nevada, Arizona, and Washington. In Washington, he was successful in developing a mission congregation that grew to over 800 members and was selected as one of 47 congregations (of over 5,000 Lutheran churches) that had the honor of “Excellence in Worship”.
